Terms of Service

1. About Plan Your Run

Plan Your Run ("we", "us", "our") builds running training plans and coaching tools. The service includes this website and the Plan Your Run iOS app. By using either, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.

2. This Is Not Medical Advice

Plan Your Run is a training tool, not a healthcare provider. Everything it produces — training plans, paces, readiness scores, recovery estimates and anything the coach says — is general information for healthy adults, and none of it is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Talk to a doctor before starting a new training programme, particularly if you have a heart condition, a history of injury, are pregnant, are returning from illness, or are managing any ongoing medical condition. If you feel chest pain, severe shortness of breath, dizziness or faintness while running, stop and seek medical attention. Do not use this service in place of professional care, and do not delay getting care because of something the app told you.

3. The Coach Is Software

The in-app coach is an automated system built on a large language model. It is not a person, not a certified running coach, and not a medical professional, and it can be wrong — it can misread your training, misjudge how you're recovering, or state something confidently that isn't true.

Training figures shown in the app are calculated by our own software rather than generated by the model, but they are still estimates built from the data available, and estimates can be wrong too. Use your own judgement. You know how you feel; the app is guessing.

The coach never changes your training on its own. Anything it proposes has to be confirmed by you before it takes effect.

4. Routes and Running Outdoors

Plan Your Run lets you draw and save running routes, shows them on a map, and estimates their distance and elevation. Route data comes from third-party mapping providers and from your own drawing. We do not inspect, verify or vouch for any route.

A route shown in the app may cross roads with traffic, follow paths that are unlit, unsafe, closed, flooded, private property, or that do not exist on the ground at all. Distances and elevation are approximate. Conditions change with weather, season, time of day and construction, and the app knows none of that.

You are responsible for your own safety when you run. Choose routes you judge to be safe, obey traffic laws and signage, stay aware of your surroundings, and don't follow directions on a screen into a road, a hazard, or anywhere you aren't permitted to be. We are not liable for any injury, loss, damage, trespass or other harm arising from your use of a route shown, generated, saved or suggested by the service.

5. Apple Health and Location

With your permission, the iOS app reads workout, heart rate, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, sleep, VO₂ max and date of birth data from Apple Health, and uses your location for weather conditions and for building routes. You can refuse or withdraw either permission in iOS Settings at any time; the app will keep working with less to go on.

We never use health or location data for advertising, and we never sell it. See our privacy policy for exactly what is collected, where it is stored and what leaves your device.

6. Your Account and Your Data

On the web, you may use Plan Your Run as a guest or sign in with a Google account to save your training. You are responsible for keeping your account secure.

The iOS app does not require an account. Your training data is stored on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your own private iCloud storage, which we cannot read. Deleting the app and its iCloud data removes it. For web data, email us and we will delete it.

7. Gear Recommendations and Commission

Plan Your Run earns affiliate commission when you buy gear through links in the app or on the site. This is disclosed wherever products appear. It costs you nothing extra.

The coach only searches for gear when you ask it to, and never brings up a purchase on its own. We don't stock, ship, or stand behind any product shown — prices, availability and descriptions come from the retailer, and your purchase is a contract between you and them.

8. Race Listings

Race information comes from third-party race directories. Dates, distances, prices and registration links can be out of date or wrong. Always confirm details with the race organiser before registering or travelling. We are not the organiser and are not responsible for any race.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the service — for example by attempting to reverse-engineer it, scrape it, resell it, overload our systems, or use it to build a competing product. We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these terms.

10. Availability

Plan Your Run is provided as-is and may change, break, or become unavailable. Features may be added or removed. We may stop offering the service entirely. We'll give reasonable notice where we can, but we don't guarantee uptime, and you should not rely on the service being available at any particular moment.

11. Limitation of Liability

Plan Your Run is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, or expense arising out of or relating to your use of the service — including any training plan, pace, readiness score, coaching message, route, race listing or product recommendation it produces, and including anything that happens to you while running.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free service is zero. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Assumption of Risk

Running carries inherent risk of injury. By using Plan Your Run you acknowledge that you take on that risk yourself, that you are responsible for deciding whether any given session is appropriate for you on any given day, and that you will stop when your body tells you to — regardless of what the plan says.

13. Children

Plan Your Run is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, email us and we will delete it.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or from your use of the service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continued use of the service after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
